Quick Calculators Help CPS Energy Customers Manage Energy Use
The nation's largest municipal electric and gas utility, CPS Energy, has selected APOGEE Interactive's HomeEnergySuite™ to provide its customers with the most comprehensive set of Web-based energy efficiency tools.
CPS Energy's 680,000 customers can get a fast, accurate analysis of their home's energy use using the new HomeEnergyCalculator™ featured on CPS Energy's website. Everything from big screen TVs and computers to air conditioning settings and home construction are considered, producing a wealth of energy-saving tips tailored for that home and family's lifestyle.
"Consumers have an even greater need for energy efficiency assistance today as many will accumulate a significant number of additional appliances and home electronics without realizing it. It all starts to add up over time," said Kenneth Gunn, Products and Programs Manager for CPS Energy. "The APOGEE HomeEnergySuite gives our customers a whole new set of tools to use in managing their energy use and energy choices," he explained.
In addition to APOGEE's flagship energy analysis engine, the HomeEnergyCalculator, CPS Energy customers can also tap into APOGEE's appliance calculator, lighting calculator, and interactive cut-away house to dig deeper into the makeup of their home's energy consumption and usage by equipment. Armed with actionable information from these tools, consumers can make more informed choices about appliance operating hours, family usage patterns and even original equipment selection.
CPS Energy also elected to add the APOGEE Kids Korner to its website, an entertaining and educational interactive section for kids of all ages, and the Home Energy Library, an extensive resource library covering all aspects of residential energy systems and efficiency.
"Our work with utilities consistently bears out what industry surveys have long shown -- utilities who communicate better with their customers have higher customer satisfaction ratings," said Susan Gilbert, president of APOGEE Interactive, Inc. "We're especially honored to be a part of CPS Energy's online communications efforts as they consistently score top rankings for customer satisfaction," she said.
